URANIUM: Rare GREEN AUTUNITE from France
From the collection of natural, uranium-bearing minerals, we present this exceptional specimen of green French Autunite.
Collectors know how prized and sought-after minerals of this type are. The uniqueness of this specimen lies in the rarity, quality, and crystal habit. The perfectly formed crystals allow for an appreciation of the well-defined crystal faces and formations.
As noted, this mineral contains uranium and is radioactive; however, it is not dangerous to human health. The radiation, mostly gamma, has a range of about 3 meters and is very weak. It is advised not to sleep next to it, avoid ingesting the crystals, and wash hands after handling. The specimen comes with a specialized container that effectively filters the few alpha particles emitted.
A true wonder of nature, perfect for enhancing high-level mineral collections. Its high aesthetic value also makes it ideal for those looking for natural objects to decorate sophisticated spaces.
Specifications:
Formula: Ca(UO₂)₂(PO₄)₂·10-12H₂O (Autunite)
Measurements: 71 x 50 x 33 mm
Weight: 97.67 g
Provenance: La Faye, Grury, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, France

Scientific information: Autunite is a hydrated calcium uranium phosphate mineral that forms in yellow-green tabular crystals. Its radioactivity comes from the uranium content, which is primarily an alpha emitter. Autunite is commonly fluorescent under UV light in Fluo Green.
Photos: The photos are taken under strong lighting to ensure the natural colors of the specimen are accurately represented. It is recommended to display the mineral in well-lit environments to fully appreciate its vibrant green hue.
Warning: These minerals are slightly radioactive. Do not ingest or introduce them into your body. They are primarily alpha and gamma emitters. Alpha radiation is easily shielded, even by a sheet of paper. The specimens are sold with a plexiglass box that provides ample shielding.
It is important not to spend many hours per day near these minerals and to keep them in their protective box or in a well-ventilated area. They can be safely handled, but wash your hands immediately afterward. For any questions, concerns, or requests, please contact us privately :)
Shipping: Shipping is typically processed the day after the order is placed, with tracking provided. Special care is taken in packaging, including an appropriate protective container. Orders from the same customer will be grouped, and any excess shipping fees will be refunded as per agreement.
